Petition to Governor Little

Tell Governor Little: Idaho's water is too important to be poisoned

Idaho's aquifer is not a bargaining chip.

The Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer gives Idaho families their drinking water and Idaho farmers the water that grows their crops.

Right now, Idaho is negotiating with the U.S. Department of Energy to host a new nuclear campus. The catch: the state would have to accept spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste from other states. By one estimate, that could top 30,000 tons.

Governor Little says protecting the aquifer is "nonnegotiable." But he also says the 1995 agreement that limits nuclear waste coming into Idaho would have to be amended to make this deal happen.

This is a forever decision.

Add your name and tell Governor Little: keep Idaho's nuclear waste limits strong, and keep other states' waste away from our water.

Governor Little: Idaho's water is not a bargaining chip. Don't weaken the 1995 Settlement Agreement, and don't make Idaho a destination for other states' nuclear waste. Our families and farmers depend on the Eastern Snake Plain Aquifer. Protecting it has to come before any deal.
